What car detailing costs in the Sutherland Shire
Updated October 2026

Prices below are typical 2026 ranges for Sydney and the Sutherland Shire, drawn from published price guides and local market rates. They are guide pricing only. Every car is different, so treat these as a starting point and get a fixed quote before work starts. The detailers we work with always price the job first.
Quick price guide
- Wash and mini detail: $95 to $180
- Interior detail: $150 to $300 for a sedan or hatch, more for seven-seaters
- Full detail (inside and out): $250 to $450 for a sedan, $350 to $550 for a large SUV or dual cab
- Cut and polish: $300 to $500 single stage, more for multi-stage correction
- Ceramic coating including paint correction: roughly $700 to $2,000 or more by vehicle and product
- Pre-sale detail: priced as a full detail, with polishing or odour work quoted on top
- Boats and caravans: quoted by size and condition, from a few hundred dollars for a wash and protect
What moves the price
Vehicle size. An SUV, dual cab or people mover has more paint, more glass and more carpet than a hatch, and most detailers price in two or three size tiers for exactly that reason. A LandCruiser can cost half as much again as a Corolla for the same package.
Pet hair. Dog hair weaves into carpet and takes dedicated tools and real time to remove. Expect a pet hair surcharge, and mention the dog when you enquire so the quote is right first time.
Mould. A car that has sat closed up damp, or copped a leak, needs proper mould remediation, not a wipe-over. It is usually quoted as its own job because it changes the products, the hours and the safety gear.
Paint condition. For correction work, the paint sets the price. Light swirls on a well-kept car might need a single-stage polish. Oxidised, scratched or previously botched paint needs multiple stages and more hours, and badly failed clear coat needs a spray painter, not a detailer.
General condition and extras. Years of sand, food and stains cost more than a maintained car. Engine bays, headlight restoration, odour and ozone treatment, and heavily soiled boots all add to the base package.
Why detailers quote before they start
A detailer pricing blind either pads every quote to cover the worst case or loses money on the hard jobs and rushes them. Neither is good for you. A quick phone call, a few photos or a look at the car lets them price your car's actual condition, and you get a figure before any work starts. Quotes through this site are free with no obligation. Frequently asked questions
Why do detailing prices vary so much between quotes?
Packages differ. One detailer's "full detail" includes seat shampooing and a sealant, another's does not. Compare the inclusions, not just the number, and ask what happens if the car turns out dirtier than described.
Is mobile detailing more expensive than a workshop?
Not usually. Mobile detailers carry lower overheads than a fixed site, and travel is built into servicing a local area. For most Shire jobs the convenience of your own driveway comes at no premium, though very large correction jobs are sometimes better suited to a workshop.
How can I keep the cost down?
Clear your gear out of the car before the detailer arrives, be accurate about condition and pet hair when you enquire, and keep a regular schedule. A maintained car detailed twice a year costs less over time than rescuing a neglected one.
